Our programs are carefully developed to address inequalities in social development and economic development.
Social Development
Education
This Stay-In-School initiative offers one-on-one tutoring to secondary school students enrolled in our education program with the goal of assisting young people to stay in school and achieve academic success. Components of this program include:
- Students learning support
- Special education and tutoring support
- Career guidance
Health
Our Mental Health Support Program provides information and engages participants in conversations focused on growing, strengthening and nurturing good mental health. The program also supports young people aged who are either awaiting other mental health support services or who are in transition from mental health support. The program offers:
- Respite for families and recreational and arts activities for participants.
- After-school sessions that provide support for youth experiencing anxiety, mild depression, peer issues such as bullying
- After-school sessions for young people who experience difficulty managing an array of normal feelings such as anger, frustration and hurt.
Building a Strong Family
This program helps families better understand and address the challenges confronting their children/youth/family. Supports Include:
- Early and pre-crisis support
- Family support and parenting education
- Development counselling
Leadership Program
This program provides counselling, educational, cultural and recreational activities in a supervised setting. Specific activities include:
- Youth mentorship/leadership initiatives
- Youth empowerment program
Social Justice
- Anti-racism, multiculturalism, and heritage learning events
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Know your rights
Supporting New-to-Canada Program
Newcomers to Canada can find it difficult to integrate due to obstacles such as poverty, learning a new language, unemployment, culture shock, isolation and feelings of hopelessness. We provide a variety of culturally sensitive programs to help families, children, and youth integrate successfully into their new social environment. This newcomer adaptation and social support is intended to assist recent immigrants in several ways, including:
- Helping them improve their language abilities
- Find housing and employment
- Help file taxes
- Enroll their kids in school, and much more
- Connect with their communities and community-based resources
